Ruth Tomlin, 103, of Connersville

Ruth (Allen) Tomlin, age 103, passed peacefully into heaven on March 27, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on July 14, 1922, in Manchester Kentucky, to Robert and Emily (Hensley) Allen. She was the last survivor of three siblings; Robert Allen (Mary), Mary Marie Hunter (Charlie), and Charlie Allen (Doreen).
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard Leslie “Shorty” Tomlin; her daughter, Emily Jane “Janie” Sparks (Donnie); and her son, Leonard Leslie Tomlin (Phyllis).
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Anna Marie (Tomlin) McMillan (Roy), Loreda “Petie” Jean Turner (Benny), and Billy Keith Tomlin (Nancy). Ruth also leaves behind a large and devoted family of many nieces and nephews, and over 60 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Ruth found happiness in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved cooking for those she cherished, creating handmade treasures through crochet, and most of all, spending time surrounded by her family. She spent most of her life in Connersville, Indiana and Mims, Florida. Her home was always a place of warmth, love, and welcome.
Her long life was a testament to faith, strength, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home on Friday, April 3, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of life immediately following burial at Dale Cemetery (location to be determined). Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s research hospital in Ruth’s honor.
