Burton Lance Smith, 63, of Connersville, passed away Thursday morning, April 2, 2026, at his residence.
A son of Donna Hoskins, Burton was born on July 9, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1999, Burton was united in marriage in Brookville to the former Mary Elizabeth Shoemaker. Together, they shared over 26 years of marriage and built a life centered on their family.
A dedicated employee, Burton worked for many years at Visteon, Crown, and Sapa.
In his leisure time, Burton found joy in the simple things. He was an avid fan of wrestling and loved the challenge of a good board game with his family. He also took great pride in his home, often spending his time working outside in the yard.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith; a son, Alex (Kiersten) Shoemaker; six grandchildren, Tyler Lee Russell, Jacob Brown, Peyton Russell, Dallas Shoemaker, Audriana Brock, and Joey Shoemaker; and a sister, Kimberly (Darrell) Russell.
Burton was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Hoskins; two children, Angela Nichole Smith and Brandon Tyler Smith; and two sisters, Joyce Lanae Ladd and Tammy Caldwell.
Graveside service will be conducted at Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Tim Smith will officiate. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
