James “Jim” Noah Bunyard, 85, of Connersville, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Reid Health in Richmond.

The son of Noah Ernie and Hilda Mae Willhelm Bunyard, Jim was born on March 29, 1940, in Connersville. He grew up in the area and was a proud 1958 graduate of Connersville High School.

A veteran of the United States Army National Guard, Jim served his country from 1957 to 1965. Serving as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 151st Infantry, he earned qualifications as an Expert and Marksman with the M1 and .30 caliber rifles. He was honorably discharged in March 1965.

On May 20, 1961, Jim was united in marriage at St. Gabriel Catholic Church to the former Judith “Judy” Richwine. Together, they built a life in Connersville and shared over 64 years of marriage until her passing on July 7, 2025.

Jim was a man of skill and dedication, serving as a Tool & Die Engineer for Stant for over 30 years. A faithful member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, he was also an active member of the Eagles and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was once honored as Knight of the Year.

In his leisure time, Jim was known for his active social presence as an avid Facebook user and his love for playing cards. He took great pride in his home, often found driving his Jeep or meticulously mowing his yard.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Mark Bunyard of Connersville and Jay Alan Bunyard of Jasper, Indiana; a grandson, Spencer Noah Bunyard and his wife, Jazmin, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and a great-grandson, Dominic James Bunyard.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Judy.

Recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Dale Cemetery.
