Susan J. Wooley, 69, of Liberty

Susan J. Wooley, of Liberty, passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida on December 27, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on February 22, 1956 in Connersville, the daughter of the late Charles Melvin and Barbara Fowler Melvin.

Sue was a graduate of Connersville High School, the class of 1975. She also attended Ivy Tech Community College where she graduated with a degree in Medical Assisting. Sue worked in the manufacturing industry for 35 years, she was employed by D&M, Stants, and Ford/Visteon. Prior to her retirement, Sue worked in the healthcare industry as a phlebotomist at McCollough Hyde Hospital for 15 years.

On a warm summer day, July 21, 2004, Sue married the love of her life, Steven A. Wooley in Brookville, Indiana. They celebrated 21 years of marriage prior to her passing.

Sue was a very strong woman. She was the rock of her family and she loved them all like no other. She loved being a wife, momma, and grandma more than life itself. Along with her husband, Sue attended St. Bridget Catholic Church in Liberty. She was an animal lover with a special love for horses and she cherished her service dog Shadow. Sue enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in her flower beds, it was a breath of fresh air. She would do anything to get outside; fishing, hiking, camping, boating, she was always ready for an adventure.  Sue was a member of the Whiskey City Catfish Club where she caught fish of great sizes, impressing even the greatest fisherman. She was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan. Sue had a heart of gold that will be missed by all who loved and knew her, and she has never met a stranger.

Along with her husband, Steven, she is survived by her children; daughters, Kelly Allen (Derek Nicholson), Stacey Green (Alan), Stephanie Coley (Nick), Ashley Mc Whinney (Dustin), and son, Bradley Wooley (Bengisu Altunsu). Her memories will live on in her grandchildren; granddaughters, Braidyn Coley, Izybella Coley, Harlynn Coley, Leila Green and grandsons, Cason McWhinney, and Carter McWhinney.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her sister SueAnn Melvin, and her in-laws, Eileen and Carlyton Wooley.

Friends and family may visit Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home located at 310 N Main Street Liberty, IN 47353 on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday January 31, 2026 at St. Bridget Catholic Church located at 404 E Vine Street , Liberty.
