Chad Alan Gettinger, 44, of Connersville

Chad Alan Gettinger, 44, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family.

One of four children of Gary Wayne and Marsha Ann Scott Gettinger, Chad was born on May 15, 1981, in Oxford, Ohio. He attended Connersville High School and later earned his diploma.

On September 20, 2002, Chad was united in marriage at Brownsville United Methodist Church to the former Catherine “Cathy” Edwards. Together, they shared over 23 years of marriage and raised three children.

Chad was a dedicated worker, serving as a meat cutter for many years before joining J-S Amish Construction Services. However, his heart was always on the farm. He spent much of his life working on the Gettinger Family Farm, where he raised cattle and goats and found great joy in attending cattle shows. A member of the Fayette County Cattlemen’s Association, Chad was also deeply involved in livestock showing, often spending his time helping his children, nieces and nephews, and others with their animal projects.

He was a member of Alquina Church and St. Gabriel Church. Outside of his work and the farm, Chad was a devoted family man who loved his dogs, Lily, Stella, and River; in addition to his beloved cows.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Gettinger; three children, Wyatt Wayne Gettinger, Addisyn Rose Gettinger, and Kane Alan Gettinger, all of Connersville; two brothers, Gary Chris (Kelly) Gettinger and Craig (Angela “Peanut”) Gettinger, both of Connersville; and a sister, Carol (Ellis) McQueen of Connersville.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Edwards of Connersville; a sister-in-law, Lisa (Josh) Copeland of Falmouth; a brother-in-law, John Edwards of Connersville; and an aunt and uncle, Carol (John) Linginfelter and Jim (Sharon) Scott. Chad was a proud uncle to Kenzie (Alex) Werner, Caigan Gettinger, Cody (Samantha) Chappelow, Kyle Chappelow, Kevin (Hannah) Chappelow, Pacey Gettinger, Diesel Gettinger, Joshua (Skylar) Copeland, Lilly Copeland, and Dylann Paige Edwards; and a great-uncle to Oliver Chappelow. He also leaves behind several cousins and many friends including his show cattle family.

Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Marsha Gettinger; his father-in-law, Gary Edwards, paternal grandparents, Ben and Betty Gettinger, maternal grandparents, Fred and Wanetta Scott; and an aunt and uncle, Peggy and Walter Jackson.

Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Ellis McQueen will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
