Tandy Adams was born May 7, 1931, in Letcher County, Whitesburg, Kentucky, to Virgil Adams and Cora Tyree Adams. On August 1, 1953, he married Mary Rose Maggard Adams. They moved to Connersville, Indiana, on January 1, 1955.
Tandy worked at Rex Philco Ford & Visteon, retiring in January 1986. He was a member of UAW Local 919 Retirees Council and a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brookville, Indiana, where he dearly loved his church family and friends.
Mary and Tandy did not have children of their own, but they lovingly claimed Georgia Amburgy’s children as their own. He was especially close to Wanda Sue and her children, whom he considered his grandchildren: Karen (Rick) Wallace of Marion, Indiana, and Kevin (Ashlie) Kaiser of Brookville, Indiana. He also considered their children — Connor, Kevin, Bailey, and Declan — as his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sisters: Vada (Dennis) Blair, Martha Sue (Comon) Blair, and Verna Collins, all of Whitesburg, Kentucky, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Rose Adams; his parents; two brothers, Virgil Ray Adams and Kenneth Adams; and two sisters, Joyce Ann Adams and Georgia (Collins) Amburgey.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made at the funeral home to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10066 Oxford Pike, Brookville, IN 47012.
Friends and family may gather at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street, Connersville, on Thursday March 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday March 6, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Kevin Waltz officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
