LIBERTY, Ind. — An Ohio man is facing multiple felony charges following an early-morning armed disturbance at Brookville Lake Resort that required a high-level tactical response from local law enforcement.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, Union County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the resort on Old State Road 101. Callers reported a male subject armed with a handgun who was allegedly making threats to shoot individuals and attempting to break into multiple residences while brandishing the firearm.
Deputy Neal and Deputy Bias arrived on the scene and located the suspect at his lot. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect exited the residence while still in possession of a handgun. Deputies issued verbal commands and were able to successfully de-escalate the situation, convincing the man to drop the weapon.
The suspect, identified as Robby D. Griffin of Blanchester, Ohio, was taken into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed on Griffin’s property with assistance from Liberty Officer Earl.
Griffin was transported to the Union County Jail and booked on multiple felony charges. While formal charges remain pending through the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, officials confirmed that Griffin has since been released on bond.
The Union County Sheriff’s Department commended Deputy Neal, Deputy Bias, and Officer Earl for their professionalism and coordination in safely resolving the incident without injury to the suspect or the public.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
