LIBERTY, Ind. — A Xenia, Ohio, man is behind pork following a traffic stop Sunday evening that revealed both extreme intoxication and an active nationwide warrant.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a reckless driver traveling westbound toward Liberty on State Road 44 East near Stateline Road at approximately 7:20 p.m. on April 26.

Deputies Neal and Bias located the suspect vehicle near Howard Road. While attempting to initiate contact, deputies observed the driver cross the center line multiple times, nearly striking both patrol units as he drove into oncoming traffic.

Deputies were able to safely stop the vehicle near Salem Road. During the subsequent investigation, the driver was identified as Zachary Fryer. Authorities determined Fryer had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.212, which is more than double the legal limit of 0.08.

Further investigation revealed that Fryer was also wanted on an active, nationwide extraditable warrant out of Chicago, Illinois, for felony narcotic charges.

Fryer was transported to the Union County Jail where he was lodged without further incident. Official charges are currently pending a review by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation for the professional response of the deputies and dispatchers involved in resolving the incident safely.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
