
Shirley A. (Loper) Nobbe, age 90, of Connersville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Reid Hospital, surrounded by loving family members, following a brief illness.
Born November 28th, 1935 on Thanksgiving Day to Mary Edna Rinehart Loper and Charles Carlton Loper. She was the third of five children.
She graduated from Alquina High School with the Class of 1953. She worked in Banking for 45 years. She started working at Central State Bank in Dec. 1953 and worked there in various jobs even after they became Fifth-Third bank. She then worked at Farmers State Bank in Rush County for 4 more years and finally retired from banking in 1998.
Shirley was a past President of American Businesswomen’s Association, past board member of Jr. Achievement, a member of Orange Twp Advisory Board and Precinct Committee Person for Orange Twp.
She served as an Election Board Member for many years. Shirley and her husband Gene were 4-H leaders for many years, and She was also the office Secretary for many years for the Fayette County Free Fair.
Shirley and her late husband Gene enjoyed camping at Manlove Park for over 20 years and were active in the Fayette County Conservation Club. They were also members of the Canal Squares and traveled around square dancing and clogging. They even got to square dance in Hawaii. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed working with her many beautiful flower beds in her yard and she took great pride in her beautiful Peonies.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Bill (Charlotte) Loper of Florida, a sister, Brenda Reed of Connersville, a son, Charles (Renee) Nobbe of Connersville, daughters, Linda (Jim) Naylor of Rushville, Carol Grubbs of Connersville and Donna (Jeff) Mathews of Liberty.
Grandchildren Nick Nobbe, Chris (Kayla) Nobbe, Steven (Ashley) Nobbe, Dan (Hayley) Naylor, Curt (Jessica) Naylor, Joni (Bill) Doig, Amanda (Trent) Grubbs, Sarah Grubbs, Andy Grubbs, Jennifer (Levi) McCashland, Melissa (Mike) Dare, Krista (Wes) Oler, Mark (Kate) Mathews and 35 great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in Death by her Husband, Eugene Nobbe, that passed away November 1, 2021, her parents, brothers Francis Loper and Robert Loper and a great granddaughter Vail Grubbs.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Dustin Boehm will officiate. Burial will take place in Orange North Cemetery.
