Tobias (Toby) Jerome Lingg of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday morning February 5, 2026 at IU West of Avon Indiana.

Tobias (Toby) Jerome Lingg of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday morning February 5, 2026 at IU West of Avon Indiana.

He was born on January 1, 1965 in Connersville, Indiana, the son of the late Louis E. and Joan C. Lingg and was the eighth of nine children.

He graduated from Connersville High School in 1983. Toby worked as a machinist for over 30 years in Indianapolis. He initially started karate (Taekwondo) with his son when Andrew was five years old. However, it quickly became a passion of Toby’s. He would go on to do Taekwondo for over 25 years, became a “4th Dan” level Black Belt, and taught many students, including students on a trip to Pakistan in 2014. He served in the TOP (Trinity Outreach Program) Taekwondo ministry from 2011-2017 out of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He broke many boards, blocks and bricks over the years.

Toby also loved movies, stuntmen, and acting. He acted in several plays over the years, including starring in Death of a Salesman and A Streetcar Named Desire with the Shelby County Players at Shelby Community Theatre. He had a quick, loud laugh and gave great hugs. He was a skilled woodworker and loved concerts. He was a teacher and father figure to many throughout his life.

He is survived by three children, Andrew Tobias (Kelly) Lingg of Greenville, SC, Shelby Dawn Lingg of Indianapolis and step daughter Charlee Jo Baker of Indianapolis. Five grandchildren Mason Andrew Lingg, Roman Lawrence Lingg, Ivan Matthew Lingg, John Allen Lingg, Heidi Elizabeth Lingg all of Greenville, SC., Brother Steve (Kay), Brother Don (Peggy), Sister Cathy (Mike) Pfeiffer, Brother Jeff, Brother Mike (Monica), Brother Louis (Becky), all of Connersville, Sister Mary Lou (Jay) Jacobs of Highland, AR, and Brother Greg (Melody) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brittney Jo.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Everton Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to “Top Program” @ the Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, Indiana or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
