Virginia L Ballinger, 90, of Liberty

Virginia L Ballinger, 90, of Liberty passed away February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 7, 1935, in Richmond to Lawrence H. and Thelma A. (Stevenson) Lilly.

Virginia was married for 36 years to Clifford Harrison, the father of her children. Virginia then married Don Ballinger, they were married for 29 years. Virginia was a 1952 graduate of Kitchell High School. She went on to graduate as an RN in the Nursing class of 1956. Her whole healthcare career was spent as an RN until she retired in 2002. After retiring she and Don enjoyed living as snowbirds in Florida for several years. While in Florida, Virginia and Don had many great adventures and good times with close family and friends. Virginia enjoyed cross-stitching and her flowers.

Survivors include her children; daughter, Brenda Harrison, son, Jeff (Rose) Harrison; step-sons, John (Angie) Ballinger, Michael Ballinger, Tim (Julie) Ballinger, Jay Ballinger; sister, LuAnn (Ed) Swafford and brother-in-law, Earl (Carolyn) Ballinger; grandchildren, Jennifer Harrison, Jeff (Carrie) Harrison, Justin (Megan) Harrison, and Austin Harrison; Jessica (Jess) Ballinger, Christopher (Sarah) Ballinger, Megan (Billy) Oberschlake, Rachelle Ballinger; great-grandchildren, Paige, Brendin, Kalynn, Gradyn, Hallee, Barry; Logan, Everett and Elias; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clifford Harrison, her second husband, Don Ballinger, a sister, Carolyn (John) Jarrett, a brother-in-law, Roy (Ursula), her sisters-in-law, Juanita (George), Edith, Audrey, Nancy (Morris), Betty (Boyd), a niece, Jackie Wilt and nephew, John “J” Jarrett.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 11:00 until 13:00 at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N. Main St. Liberty, Indiana 47353. The funeral service will begin at 13:00 with Pastor Shawn Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery.
