The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a tragic house fire that occurred in the 18000 block of Frank Myers Road in Cambridge City, Indiana. The call was received just before 2:00 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, first responders found the residence fully involved in fire.
Once the fire was brought under control, three victims were located inside the residence. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, is actively and diligently investigating to determine the identities of the victims, their causes of death, and the origin and cause of the fire. The Wayne County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the identification of the victims and with determining their causes of death.
At this time, the victims have not been positively identified, their causes of death remain undetermined, and the cause of the fire has not yet been established. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
“This is a heartbreaking situation for our community,” said Sheriff Randy Retter. “We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone impacted by this tragedy, and we are committed to doing everything possible to thoroughly investigate this incident and provide answers as they become available.”
