Joyce Irene (Lamb) Nobbe, age 84, of Connersville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Joyce was born on February 23, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charlotte (Waters) Lamb and Herman Lamb. She was a 1959 graduate of Clay Township High School in Miami County, Indiana. Joyce later attended Purdue University, where she earned her degree in Speech and Language Pathology, and went on to obtain her master’s degree in Special Education from Butler University. It was at Purdue University that she met the love of her life, Paul N. Nobbe, and they were married on October 2, 1965, in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Joyce dedicated 25 years of service as a speech and language therapist, working for Indianapolis Public Schools and Shelby County Schools, before retiring in 1999.
A woman of deep faith, Joyce was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Fortville, Indiana, and later a devoted parishioner of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Connersville for the past 23 years.
Joyce enjoyed rug hooking, music, crocheting, reading, traveling, volunteer work and was an avid lover of college football. Along with her many hobbies, Joyce’s life was a living example of faith in action. Through her years of service to the Church, her community, and especially the Daughters of Isabella, she touched countless lives with kindness, humility, and quiet strength. Joyce believed deeply in serving others, not for recognition, but out of love for God and neighbor. Her leadership within the Daughters of Isabella, St. Rita’s Circle #63—as Regent of St. Rita’s Circle, then as State Auditor and Senior State Auditor, and a devoted member—left a lasting imprint on the organization and the many women she mentored and encouraged along the way.
Her service extended well beyond titles and roles. Joyce’s willingness to lector, cantor, sing in the choir, support pro-life efforts, serve on St. Anne’s Altar Society, and volunteer at the Hope Center for many years reflected her belief that faith must be lived daily through compassion, generosity, and presence. She had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for, and her gentle spirit and steadfast commitment strengthened the parish and community she loved so dearly.
Above all, Joyce’s greatest joy and proudest legacy was her family. She poured her heart into her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, offering unconditional love, guidance, prayer, and encouragement. Her home was a place of warmth, faith, and welcome, and her influence will continue to be felt through the lives of those she nurtured and inspired.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Paul N. Nobbe Sr.; her children, Paul N. Nobbe, Jr., Brian (Quiteria) Nobbe, Pamela (Michael) Wells, and Scott Nobbe; nine grandchildren, Danielle Nobbe, Briana Nobbe, Kaitlin (Peyton) Webb, Jessica Wells, Jamie (Ben) Eger, Gabriel Wells, Leila Wells, Victor Wells, and Jackson Wells; and four great-grandchildren, Braeme Gosbert Nobbe, Charlie Kay Webb, Theodore Paul Webb, and Eleanor Mae Eger. She is also survived by her sister, Donita Rogers; brothers, John Lamb and Mark Lamb; sisters-in-law, Darlene Nobbe, Shirley Nobbe, and Wilma Fryar; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Charlotte Lamb; her brother, James Lamb; her sister-in-law, Shirley Lamb; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Nobbe, Eugene Nobbe, and Harry Fryar.
Joyce will be remembered by all who knew her, especially by her loving family, for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, and the deep love she had for her family and community. She lived a life rooted in faith and service, offering kindness, encouragement, and grace to everyone she encountered. Her legacy will endure through the lives she touched and the example of love and devotion she leaves behind.
The visitation will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 N. Grand Ave., Connersville, IN 47331, from 4 pm-8 pm, with a rosary starting at 3:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 224 W 9th St. Connersville, IN 47331 at 11:00 am. followed by interment at Orange Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus, Connersville.
In lieu of flowers, it was Joyce’s wish that memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church Capital Campaign, the Hope Center, Fayette County Cancer Society, or the Daughters of Isabella, St. Rita Circle #63.
