Doris Elizabeth Kelly of Connersville passed at the Heritage House Health Center on Monday, December 22, 2025. Doris was born on October 12, 1926 in Pontiac, Michigan to Nelson T. and Christina Hughes Porter. On May 2, 1963, she married Lawrence (Larry) Kelly, and they were able to spend 40 years together before he passed on July 26, 2003. During the summers they enjoyed going to the lake on the boat with friends and then would enjoy their winters in Florida.
Doris was a member of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority for many years. Doris loved playing cards with her friends. Most importantly Doris enjoyed her time spent with her family, granddaughters and great granddaughters.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Thomas Wedding, of Centerville, Indiana and Todd (Katy) Kelly of Cedar Lake, Indiana; granddaughters, Megan (Ben) Canonica of Chelsea, Vermont; Casey Kelly, of Westfield, Indiana; Libby Kelly of Indianapolis, Indiana; twin great granddaughters, Hazel and Mavis Canonica, of Chelsea, Vermont; and brother, John “Creighton” Porter, of Connersville.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Porter, daughter in law, Mona Wedding and sister-in-law, June Porter.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, those can be sent to P.O. Box 60., Connersville, Indiana 47331 or to the Fayette County Community Foundation, 521 Central Ave., Suite A., Connersville, Indiana 47331.
