Vernon Ray Grizzel, 85, of Rushville

Vernon Ray Grizzel, 85, of Rushville, passed away Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at his residence.

One of six children of Raymond and Myrtle Hall Grizzel. Vernon was born in Brazil, Indiana on December 6, 1940, and proudly served with the U. S. Army.

On October 26, 1969, Vernon married Mary Richardson of Metamora, Indiana. Mrs. Grizzel died October 29, 2019.

For several years, Vernon was employed as a truck driver for Mills and Brunning Trucking.

Survivors includes a sister, Hazel Overton of Indianapolis; a niece, Joann Thurman of Indianapolis. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Besides his wife, Mary Grizzel, he is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Betty Friend, Jewell Wilson, Faye Thornsbury and Romana Hope Grizzel.

Family and friends may visit from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at 1P.M., Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Coyle officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
