Remembering Charlie Jones: A Life of Service and Family

Charles Clarence “Charlie” Jones, 80, of Connersville, passed away on Thursday morning, November 27, 2025, at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville.

He was born December 13, 1944, in Connersville, one of three children of Clarence Anderson and Deliaha May Jones. A lifelong resident of the community, Charlie was a 1963 graduate of Connersville High School.

Charlie enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country on the Prime BEEF Team during the Vietnam War.

On August 23, 1966, he was married in St. Gabriel Catholic Church to the former Theresa Welch. Mrs. Jones survives.

Charlie was self-employed for many years in shoe repair and was later employed at Tom Raper Camper Sales. He was a faithful member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight in 1988 and 1989.

In his leisure time, Charlie enjoyed fishing at Manlove Park. His greatest joy came from supporting his family; he loved attending his grandchildren’s swimming, diving, and dance meets.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Theresa Jones; two daughters, Michaelle Jones and Jacqueline (Ed) Thoman, both of Connersville; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Craig) Teagardin, Christopher Moody, Jeffrey Jones, Brett Thoman, Abigail Thoman (Quinton Moore), Quinton Jones, David Stewart, and Jessica (Matt) Whiting. He is also blessed with a number of great-grandchildren, including Caleb Teagardin, Henry Teagardin, Liam Jones, Violet Jones, Elon Jones, Ryleigh Thoman, Aurora Stewart, Khazuma Stewart, Telethia Stewart, Natsu Stewart, Soma Stewart, Lilly Stewart, Collins Whiting, and one on the way. Other survivors include a sister, Virginia Fry of Connersville; a niece, Brenda (Jerry) Collins; a nephew, James Fry; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Derrick Jones; a daughter-in-law, Jamie Jones; and a brother, Walter Thomas Jones.

Recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Lyonsville.
