I-70 Westbound Gridlock: Overturned Semi Shuts Down Highway in Wayne County, Indiana

Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 70 in Wayne County, Indiana, are experiencing major traffic disruptions this Sunday following an overturned semi-truck incident, according to information released by the Indiana State Police (ISP) Pendleton Facebook page.

The incident, which occurred earlier today near mile marker 142, has forced the complete closure of I-70 westbound. As of the latest update from the ISP Pendleton Facebook page, emergency crews remain on the scene, working diligently to upright the overturned semi and clear the roadway.

Traffic is being diverted onto US 35 at mile marker 149, leading to significant congestion on the alternate route. The ISP is strongly advising drivers to seek alternative routes to avoid the area altogether.

“We are working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible,” stated the ISP in their Facebook post. “However, due to the nature of the incident, we anticipate continued delays. We urge drivers to exercise extreme caution and follow all posted detours.”

The closure has resulted in a noticeable increase in traffic on local roads surrounding I-70 within Wayne County, impacting travel times for residents on this Sunday. Local authorities are urging drivers to be patient and aware of the heightened traffic flow.

Our news organization will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they are released by the ISP Pendleton Facebook page.
