Union County High School’s Katie McCashland Recognized in Statewide Academic Program
Katie McCashland, a senior representing Union County High School, has been recognized for her outstanding academic achievements as part of the 39th annual Indiana Academic All-Stars program. The announcement came from the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), which organizes the prestigious statewide competition.

McCashland was among 225 nominees selected by accredited public and private high schools across Indiana. From this pool of distinguished students, the IASP named 40 seniors as 2025 Indiana Academic All-Stars and an additional 50 students as Academic All-Star Regional Honorees.
The Indiana Academic All-Stars program honors seniors who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, particularly in challenging courses like Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and International Baccalaureate classes. Beyond classroom success, the selection criteria emphasize involvement in academic and other extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership qualities.
Each high school in Indiana can nominate one senior who embodies these characteristics. The program, produced by IASP with support from university partner Purdue University and corporate sponsor Lifetouch, aims to elevate academic achievement, motivate students, and showcase the talents of Indiana’s young people, similar to how athletic accomplishments are celebrated.
