After losing just three senior defenders, Connersville returns a lot of experience to the Lady Spartans as they look to compete in the EIAC conference this season. Last season Connersville finished sixth in conference play. For the 2026 Lady Spartans nearly every major offensive, blocking, setting, and ball control contributor is back and the Spartans add a transfer who increases their versatility and depth. With a strong core returning and several players capable of filling multiple roles, Connersville enters 2026 with a stable foundation and a roster built to compete.

The front line attack is led by junior Kendyl Bottomley, who finished last season with 330 kills and 74 total blocks, giving the Spartans a consistent presence in the middle. She is joined by juniors Sophie Wilson and Zoey Chomel, who combined for more than 270 kills and over 60 blocks, providing steady production across the front row. On the other side, senior Stella Holmes adds another reliable option after posting 161 kills and 51 blocks. Together, this group gives Connersville a balanced attack with multiple players capable of contributing consistently.

The Lady Spartans also bring in junior transfer Taryn Tremain, who arrives after a well rounded sophomore season that included 312 assists, 248 kills, 260 digs, 93 aces, and 16 blocks at Seton Catholic. Tremain has the ability to contribute in multiple areas. Her setting in the summer league games she played stood out. But she also demonstrated that attacking, defending, and serving skills were all ready to step in and provide additional flexibility to the rotations.

Keagan Ritter returns after finishing last season with 714 assists, giving the Spartans continuity and a familiar leader for their offensive system. Ritter’s experience helps maintain rhythm and consistency for a lineup that already features several returning hitters. With the addition of Tremain, Ritter is likely to be able to expand her role and show more flexibility on the front line for the Lady Spartans.

Defensively, Connersville brings back several players capable of contributing in the back row that lost all three seniors from last season. Lola Wells returns as the team’s most experienced libero option, offering stability in serve receive and coverage. Hailey Pearson provides additional support with her ball control and versatility along with Taylynn Selby who returns from injury and is likely to see time in the rotation. On the front line, one or both Bottomley and Holmes will be on the floor at all times. However, Ritter, Wells, Pearson, Chomel and Tremain will make up a strong unit.

Summer league play showed that the back row competition is strong, with Wells, Wilson, Pearson, and Selby all spending time with the varsity group. When the team was shorthanded, Aydree Burge, Hannah Ropp, Ella Huffman, Tessa Kelly and Kendyl Smith stepped in and performed well. Also, freshman Amirah Johnson showed the athleticism to compete at the net if called on. Their reliability in serve receiving, digging, and coverage reinforces that Connersville has multiple dependable depth pieces that can compete for rotation spots throughout the season.

With steady production returning at the net, an experienced setter guiding the offense, a competitive back row group, and a newcomer who broadens the team’s options, Connersville enters 2026 with a roster that has both experience and depth. The Spartans have several players capable of stepping into key roles, giving them a solid foundation as they move into EIAC play.

The Lady Spartans will play their first game tonight at Lawrenceburg; an EIAC foe that finished fifth in the conference last season.
