CONNERSVILLE — Six people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger car at the intersection of State Road 121 and Veterans Memorial.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:46 p.m. Initial dispatch reports indicated the crash might involve multiple cars alongside the semi, but arriving responders confirmed the collision was between one passenger vehicle and the semi-truck.
A medical helicopter was initially put on standby out of caution, but officials canceled the air dispatch shortly after assessing the scene. Six patients were evaluated by first responders and transported for further treatment.
Responders from the Fayette County EMS, Connersville Fire Department, Everton Fire Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Connersville Police Department and Indiana State Police all assisted at the scene.
Crews cleared the intersection with the help of Davis Towing, which removed the semi-truck, and Carstar of Connersville, which towed the passenger car. EMS officials also extended thanks to the Fayette County 911 Communications Center for coordinating emergency response during the call.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
