The Fayette County School Corporation has finalized the schedule for its upcoming Summer Food Program, offering free meals to local youth throughout June and July. The program provides free breakfasts and lunches to all children ages 18 and under to ensure local students have access to healthy meals while school is out of session for the summer.
The program is scheduled to run from June 1 through July 31, with meal distributions taking place twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. All provided meals are strictly take-home bags and cannot be consumed on-site. Because of the multi-day gaps between handouts, families will receive a bundle of meals during each pickup. The Monday distribution includes four breakfasts and four lunches per child, while the Friday distribution includes three breakfasts and three lunches.
Two local school campuses will serve as the official meal service locations this summer. Families can pick up meals at Everton Elementary School from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., or at Frazee Elementary School from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
School officials noted that lines for the distribution will form directly in front of each school building. Parents should plan accordingly, as children must be physically present at the site to receive the meal packages.
