CONNERSVILLE – Learning went from the blueprint to the backyard this week at Connersville High School. Through collaboration and problem-solving, students in the Project Based Learning (PBL) program turned a classroom assignment into a tangible gift for the community’s four-legged defenders.
On Thursday, PBL students officially donated a custom-built doghouse to Deputy Patrick Mollaun and his partner, K9 Odin, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
The project served as a hands-on application of the skills teachers have been cultivating in the PBL curriculum, emphasizing that “meaningful learning” often happens outside the pages of a textbook. The donation ensures that K9 Odin will have a sturdy, well-crafted place to rest when he isn’t on the clock keeping Fayette County safe.
“Through collaboration, problem-solving, and a whole lot of hard work, our PBL teachers turned classroom learning into something meaningful for students,” CHS officials stated following the donation.
For the students, the project was more than just a grade it was a lesson in community service and the power of hard work.
