HAGERSTOWN – The Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) recently convened at Willie and Red’s in Hagerstown for its Spring Regional Meeting, where local education leaders were formally recognized for their commitment to professional growth and effective governance.

Among the evening’s top honorees was Ann Kirschner, school board member for the Fayette County School Corporation, who received the Level 4: Exemplary award. This represents the highest individual honor bestowed by the ISBA, requiring a board member to accumulate over 225 points through continuous engagement in professional development, legislative advocacy, and leadership training.

Also recognized for her contributions was Sasha Henderson, who earned the Level 1: Commendable award. In her first year of service on the board, Henderson has demonstrated a rapid commitment to the principles of sound governance, earning the 75 points required for this accolade through ISBA seminars and workshops.

“On behalf of ISBA, I would like to commend this dedicated group of school board members,” said ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin. “School boards perform a vital public service, and members who actively participate in professional learning are better equipped to govern effectively and meet the needs of students.”

The progress demonstrated by these individual awards reflects a renewed focus on professional standards and student-centered leadership within the district.
