Fayette County Primary Election: Early Voting and Registration Deadlines Announced
The Fayette County Clerk’s office has released the official schedule for the upcoming primary election cycle. Residents looking to cast their ballots early or register for the first time should take note of several key dates beginning this month.
Important Deadlines and Public Test
The process kicks off with a public test of the voting equipment, scheduled for March 23 at 2:30 PM. This session ensures the integrity and accuracy of the machines ahead of the election.
“We want to ensure every voter has confidence in the system,” said Fayette County Clerk Dawn Hughes. “The public test is a way for the community to see exactly how the equipment is prepared for the election.”
For those not yet registered to vote, the final day to register is April 6. Ensure your registration is up to date to participate in the upcoming primary.
Early Voting Schedule
In-person early voting officially begins on April 7 at the Fayette County Courthouse 401 North Central Ave, Connersville, IN 47331. Hughes emphasized the convenience of the early voting options provided this year.
“We are committed to making voting as accessible as possible for all Fayette County residents,” Hughes stated. “By offering both weekday and Saturday hours, we hope to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules.”
The Clerk’s office has established the following hours for early bird voters:
- Monday through Friday: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Saturday, April 25: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Saturday, May 2: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The addition of two Saturday dates provides an opportunity for those unable to make it to the courthouse during standard business hours.
