CONNERSVILLE — The Fayette County Commissioners have officially appointed Katie Adams to serve as the Orange Township Trustee, following a recommendation from Republican Party Chair Lisa Witt.
The appointment comes after a Friday caucus failed to produce an eligible candidate to replace outgoing trustee Shane Clifford. Clifford, who resigned his post, had agreed to remain in the position until January 30 to allow for a smooth transition.
Adams, a lifelong resident of Orange Township, stepped forward to fill the remainder of the term. “I’m willing to learn how to do the job and I think I can handle it,” Adams told the commissioners during the Tuesday meeting.
Witt noted that Adams is also working to appear on the ballot for the upcoming election to retain the seat. The commissioners approved the appointment unanimously.
