CENTERVILLE, IN – Nature lovers can experience the quiet beauty of the winter landscape under the first full moon of 2026. The Cope Environmental Center has announced its Full Moon Hike for Friday, January 2, 2026.

Beginning at 6:30 PM, the hike will be guided by an expert naturalist who will share insights into how local nocturnal wildlife adapts to the cold season. Under the “waxing gibbous” sky, hikers will explore shifting shadows and listen for the subtle sounds of the night.

The event is sponsored by IU East, allowing the center to provide this educational experience to the public for a small fee of $5.00. Participants are encouraged to bundle up and bring a sense of wonder as they step into the new year.

Event Details:

• Location: Cope Environmental Center, 1730 Airport Road, Centerville, IN.

• Time: January 2, 2026, from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM.

• Admission: $5.00.
