CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – Historic Downtown Connersville is preparing for a major transformation next week as the annual Winterfest returns. The two-day celebration brings together shopping, dining, and seasonal traditions across the city on Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6.
Friday’s schedule runs from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while Saturday’s events will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friday evening is the 5th Annual Candy Canes & Cocoa, hosted by the Fayette Community Foundation. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., residents are invited to a new location at the Oasis Community Garden to enjoy a free cup of hot cocoa and meet the team. This event also kicks off the Winter Giving Campaign, where donors can have their names added to a marshmallow in the growing window display. The first 10 guests to visit the donation table will receive a handcrafted ornament from Act 3 Pottery.
Beyond the cocoa, the downtown area will host a variety of attractions throughout the weekend. Families can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at Discover Connersville’s Santa House or enjoy the “Winter Sky” art installation in the Court Street Alleyway. The Courthouse Lawn will host Reindeer Games, while the Market Street Plaza features a Winter Patio with fire pits and live music.
Central Avenue will be lined with food trucks and a Craft & Farmers’ Market, alongside luminary displays. Shoppers can also explore open houses at the Canal House, the museum, the WVRR Depot, and local businesses. For those seeking a classic holiday experience, carriage rides will be available starting at the Historic Connersville Canal House, and Imagine Performing Arts will present their Madrigal Dinner.
The holiday spirit extends beyond the downtown corridor as well. The Whitewater Valley Railroad continues its popular Polar Express excursions, offering families a magical train ride to the North Pole on both Friday and Saturday. Additionally, the “Illuminate Roberts Park” display continues to light up the evenings, providing a festive drive-through experience for the community.
Residents are encouraged to bundle up and head downtown next weekend to support local organizations and celebrate the season.
