LIBERTY, IN – The Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Everton Volunteer Fire Department to enhance its operational capabilities. The funds, drawn from the cooperative’s Operation Round Up program, are designated for the purchase of custom covers to protect the fire department’s essential equipment.

The grant was officially presented on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Chad Gronning of the Everton Volunteer Fire Department. Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust trustees Sara Jane Moyer and Gary Stokes were present to hand over the check, recognizing the vital role the fire department plays in the community.

Operation Round Up’s Impact

The $1,000 award is part of a larger distribution of funds this quarter, with the Community Trust recently granting aid to eight other local not-for-profit organizations.

The Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. is powered by the generous contributions of REMC members who voluntarily participate in Operation Round Up, allowing their monthly electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar. All funds collected through this program are distributed back into the service area for charitable purposes. The Trust Board meets quarterly—in January, April, July, and October—to review applications and direct these resources to local organizations.

Whitewater Valley REMC is an electric utility cooperative that provides service to over 10,000 members across Randolph, Wayne, Union, Fayette, Franklin, and Dearborn counties.
