The Connersville Lady Spartan junior varsity basketball team opened the 2025-26 regular season at 2-0 following wins over Southport and Decatur Central in an early season shootout at Connersville Middle School on Saturday.
Freshmen Hope Hornsby and Isabella Dilk were in double digits for the Lady Spartan JV in a 36-10 win over Southport in game 1. Hornsby had 14 points with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Dilk contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.
Junior Myleigh Perry contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds, while Shye Evitts added 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kylie McHenry tallied 2 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Hannah Ropp chipped in 1 point, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. Also contributing to the Lady Spartans’ win were Teegan Selby with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals; Peyton Chambers with 4 rebounds; Lilly Lee with 1 steal; and Madison Hendrix with 1 rebound.
The JV Lady Spartans followed up their game 1 win with a 44-34 win over the Decatur Central reserves on Saturday afternoon.
Dilk had 11 points, with 2 steals and 1 rebound against Decatur Central. McHenry added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Perry contributed 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal, while Hornsby also scored 9 points, along with 4 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
Selby finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. Chambers chipped in 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. Ropp contributed 3 steals, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 blocked shot. Evitts collected 2 rebounds in game 2.
Connersville travels to Delta for a non-conference matchup with the JV Lady Eagles on Friday and will host Shelbyville on Saturday.
