Everton Volunteer Fire Department to Host Free Training on Electric Vehicle Emergency Response

CONNERSVILLE, IN – As the number of electric and alternative fuel vehicles on the road increases, the Everton Volunteer Fire Department is taking proactive steps to ensure first responders are prepared for the unique challenges these vehicles present during an emergency.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the department will host a free training course titled “EV/AFV Incident Management: Safety and Response Techniques.” The full-day session, provided by the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), is designed to equip firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders with the critical knowledge needed to manage incidents involving hybrid and electric vehicles safely.

The course will cover fundamental differences between responding to incidents with electric vehicles versus traditional internal combustion engines, focusing on new safety protocols, necessary tools, and vital resources.

“As the number of electric and hybrid vehicles on our roads grows, it’s crucial that our first responders are prepared for the unique challenges they present,” said Chief Chad Gronning of the Everton Volunteer Fire Department. “This training from the NVFC is a vital opportunity to ensure our team has the most up-to-date knowledge and techniques to manage these incidents safely and effectively, protecting both the public and our own personnel.”

The training will take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST at the Everton Volunteer Fire Department, located at 5495 S State Road 1, Connersville, IN 47331.

First responders interested in attending this free course can register via the QR code on the event flyer. For further questions, please contact the course host, Chief Chad Gronning, at fire2124@yahoo.com, or the NVFC Training Coordinator, Amanda Tegtmeyer, at amanda@nvfc.org
