Connersville’s Carson Moore and Richmond’s Ian Cox Compete at New Balance Nationals Indoor
Two 8th-grade athletes from the region, Carson Moore of Connersville Middle School and Ian Cox of Dennis Middle School in Richmond, recently participated in the New Balance Nationals Indoor in Boston. Both athletes qualified for the national track and field meet, competing in the Boys 60m Middle School Prelims and the Boys Long Jump Middle School events.
In the 60m dash, Moore recorded a time of 8.00 seconds, placing 68th. Cox achieved a time of 7.58 that placed him 21st in the same event.
For the long jump event, Cox achieved a 20th place finish in the long jump prelims, with a distance of 16’ 5”
Competing in a national-level event like the New Balance Nationals Indoor is a notable achievement, offering athletes the opportunity to face a wide range of talent and gain valuable experience. This competition reflects the dedication to track and field shown by both Moore and Cox, as well as their ability to qualify for a significant event.
Both athletes are also involved in multiple sports. The experience gained at the Nationals adds to their overall athletic development.
