METAMORA, IN – The historic town of Metamora was filled with the sounds of laughter and joy as it hosted its annual Children’s Day, a beloved tradition that has been a community staple for more than two decades. Despite soaring temperatures, families flocked to the town to partake in a day full of fun and activities.

This year’s event saw widespread community involvement, with 37 local shops and organizations participating to create a memorable experience for the children. Activities were spread throughout the town and included a penny drop, hula hoop contests, putt-putt, and many other engaging games.

The heat did little to curb the enthusiasm of attendees, who found ways to cool down while enjoying the festivities. Local businesses reported a busy and successful day.

“Metamora celebrated another Children’s Day, a tradition that has been going on for over 20 years,” said Stacey Hillman. “With 37 shops/organizations participating, kids were invited to do a penny drop, hula hoop, putt putt and many other activities. The hot temps didn’t stop anyone. Grannie’s Cookie Jars & Ice Cream Parlor served over 5 gallons of ice cream and The Whitewater Valley Railroad transported over close to 200 people for both the shuttle train and The Valley Flyer collectively.”

Looking ahead, Hillman added an invitation for the community’s next event, “Hope to see everyone this weekend for the Cowboy Train shootout.”
