CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – One person died and another was seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a box truck Monday afternoon on Highway 44 West near Connersville.
The crash occurred around 1:15 PM EDT on April 7th, reportedly in the area between 525 West and 650 West in Fayette County.
According to initial reports from the scene, the driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported by LifeLine helicopter to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
Highway 44 West was closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and the Indiana State Police began their investigation into the cause of the collision.
The Indiana State Police are expected to release further details, potentially including the names of those involved pending family notification, later this evening upon completion of their preliminary report.
