The Farmland Volunteer Fire Department has emerged as the champions of a highly unusual sporting event, according to their official Facebook page. They conquered both their initial match and the championship game of the Donkey Basketball event held at Monroe Central High School on Monday, March 17, 2025.
As detailed in their Facebook post, the firefighters not only defeated the Parker City Fire Department in their first game, securing a 6-2 victory, but they went on to win the entire evening’s competition. Adding to their triumph, Lane Dance of the Farmland Fire Department was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the night. The Facebook post revealed that Dance secured three crucial points for the team by successfully riding “one of the toughest donkeys” of the night.
The department’s Facebook page emphasized their team’s overall victory and highlighted Dance’s impressive performance and contribution to the championship win. The post also reiterated the unique nature of the event, where participants had to play basketball while riding donkeys.
While other games took place during the event, involving Monroe Central teachers, staff, and students, the Farmland Fire Department’s online presence primarily focused on their own team’s success in the firefighter challenges.
