Weekend traffic stops lead to discovery of alleged narcotics

This weekend, two separate traffic stops initiated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the discovery of alleged narcotics.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Deputy P. Mollaun and K9 Deputy J. Lunsford conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of West County Road 50 North. During the stop, K9 Ice was deployed and reportedly produced a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement located approximately 8 grams of alleged methamphetamine, 3 grams of alleged fentanyl, 5 grams of alleged marijuana, and 15 hypodermic syringes. Connersville Police Department Officer P. Dunaway assisted at the scene.

Earlier in the weekend, on Friday, Nov. 28, Deputy Mollaun initiated a traffic stop in the area of 3rd and Water Street at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Shortly after the stop was initiated, Connersville Police Department K9 Officer T. Russell and his partner, K9 Simba, arrived on the scene. K9 Simba was deployed for an exterior sniff of the vehicle, which reportedly resulted in a positive indication for the odor of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately one gram of alleged fentanyl. Additional CPD units assisted at the scene.
