“The Crazy Quilt Club” Stitches Together Comedy and Mystery at IPA

CONNERSVILLE, IN — Opening September 18, 2026, the comedy murder mystery “The Crazy Quilt Club” comes to Imagine Performing Arts, 406 N. Central Avenue in Connersville. The show runs two weekends, Friday through Sunday, with evening performances at 7 p.m. on Fridays and matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays: September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27, 2026.

Written by Pat Cook and produced by arrangement with Eldridge Plays and Musicals, the production marks Amy Smallwood Ringenberg’s directing debut at IPA. Tickets are $12 each and available online at IPA.LUDUS.COM. Seating is limited to 49 per show.

Veronica Blather is a sweet little old lady who spends most of her time knitting and solving murders — most of which occur wherever she happens to show up. Naturally, she has trouble finding a place to live. When her niece invites her to stay at a retirement home for knitting enthusiasts, it seems ideal, until one of the residents dies from drinking poisoned punch. Was it Matilda, president of the Crazy Quilt Club? Lydia, who likes to die on Tuesdays? Clara, a compulsive liar? Or wisecracking Sarafina, who doesn’t trust anybody and carries a rifle just to be sure? Clues drop as fast as corpses, and the dialogue races along at breakneck speed, keeping the audience in stitches until the final curtain.

“Think of it as ‘The Golden Girls’ meets ‘Murder, She Wrote,’” said Board President Carla Beard.

The show has a run time of approximately 120 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. As with many murder mysteries, the production includes a thunderstorm, and patrons are advised of the use of flashing lights.

2026 marks the 12th year Imagine Performing Arts has brought theater, music, events, special dinners, and shows to Fayette County. Since moving into its permanent home at 406 N. Central Avenue, across from the county courthouse, the organization has been inspired to bring the community even more entertainment while encouraging the artistic spirit of our neighbors and friends.
