PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Fayette County Municipal Unit Strategic Taskforce (“MUST”) will conduct Meeting #1 – Phase 1: Kick-Off to begin the formal MUST process established under recent legislative changes affecting Indiana’s Local Income Tax (“LIT”).
The meeting will be held on September 24, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room, Fayette County Courthouse, at Connersville, Indiana.
The purpose of the meeting is to establish the taskforce structure and member expectations, confirm a proposed meeting schedule, and present preliminary financial modeling related to Local Income Tax distributions. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for discussion regarding the objectives of the MUST process and the work to be completed during subsequent meetings.
As provided by statute, the MUST consists of one representative from the county council and the fiscal officer of each city and town located within the county. Representatives of townships, libraries, school corporations, and other local governmental units may also attend.
The meeting is open to the public. Additional MUST meetings have been scheduled and will continue as the taskforce works toward developing recommendations regarding Local Income Tax distributions in Fayette County.
