FRANKLIN COUNTY — Human remains discovered in southeastern Franklin County have been positively identified as Roger Paul Purcell, who was reported missing on June 21, 2024.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identification through the examination of medical devices associated with Purcell’s previous surgeries. Purcell’s family has been notified.
The Sheriff’s Department stated that the investigation remains ongoing pending the results of an additional autopsy and forensic examinations.
In a statement, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department expressed gratitude to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center Forensic Anthropology Team, and all assisting agencies for their efforts during the investigation.
Officials noted that additional information will be released as it becomes available and as appropriate for the ongoing investigation.
