Former Connersville Lady Spartan Sara Ruble is a junior at Indiana Wesleyan University; playing third base for the Wildcats this year. She has been a key component in the success of the team as they have reached the NAIA World Series. The World Series is being held in Columbus Georgia.
Ruble has a .331 batting average with 14 extra base hits including 2 homeruns. She has driven in 34 runners and scored 38 runs herself. The Wildcats are 40-13 overall and 30-6 in conference this season. They reached the WS by defeating the #8 ranked Missouri Baptist University 6-4, then #10 ranked Lindsey Wilson University 11-3 and finally Johnson University 10-2. Sara was a big contributor so far in the post season, she has hit .428 in the post season going 3 for 7, with 6 RBI’s, 5 runs scored and drawing 4 walks over the three games.
Indiana Wesleyan will open play on Thursday at 10 a.m. when the face Marion (IN) in the 8 vs 9 match up. The winner will play Friday at 7 p.m. against number 1 ranked and seeded Madonna (Mich.); the loser moves into an elimination bracket against the loser of game 2 between Mobile (Ala.) and OLLU (Texas) scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday.
