The Everton Volunteer Fire Department is opening its doors for a double-header of community events on Saturday, April 4. From a hearty morning spread to an evening of high-stakes raffles, the day offers two distinct ways for residents to support their local first responders.
A Morning Tradition: The Everton Breakfast
The day starts early at the fire house, with the smell of coffee and pancakes filling the air from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. This isn’t just a meal; it’s a chance for neighbors to catch up over plates of biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, and potatoes.
As always, the breakfast is held by free-will donation. These contributions are vital for the department, helping to fund the equipment and training that keep the Everton community safe around the clock.
Evening Excitement: 4th Annual “Smoke’n Hot” Night
Once the morning dishes are cleared, the department shifts gears for its 4th Annual “Smoke’n Hot” event, kicking off at 5 p.m. at 5495 South State Road One.
The evening features a unique 30/20 raffle format. For each round, only 30 tickets are sold at $20 a piece. Once the round is full, a winner is drawn immediately and gets to choose their prize from a massive selection of hundreds of items.
The night also includes:
- A 50/50 raffle
- Concessions featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, and snacks
- A beer garden (ID required)
“We really look forward to this day every year,” said Everton Fire Chief Chad Gronning. “Starting the morning with a full house for breakfast and then moving into the raffle night gives us a great chance to see everyone. It’s the community’s support that keeps us going, and we’re excited to put on a great show for everyone who comes out.”
