WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Union, Fayette, and Franklin Counties Under Advisory for Tuesday

CONNERSVILLE — Residents in East Central Indiana should prepare for another round of winter weather as a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Fayette, Union, and Franklin counties. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington, will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3.

Timing and Expected Accumulations Snow is expected to move into the Whitewater Valley area on Tuesday morning, with the bulk of the precipitation occurring during the daytime hours. Forecasts indicate that the snow will taper off by late Tuesday afternoon or early evening.

Current official projections for our immediate local areas are:

  • Connersville: 1/2 inch expected
  • Liberty: 1/2 inch expected
  • Brookville: 1 inch expected

Impact on Travel Motorists should plan for slippery road conditions throughout the day. Given the timing of the system, both the Tuesday morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the low-to-mid 30s during the event, which may lead to some melting on impact or slushy accumulations on treated surfaces. However, untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick as the snow falls.

Looking Ahead Following this Tuesday system, a brief period of quiet weather is expected before another clipper system potentially brings additional light snow to the region Thursday night and into Friday. Extremely cold temperatures are also on the horizon, with wind chills potentially dropping below minus 5 degrees by Friday night into Saturday morning.
