Alvis Russell, 92, of Connersville

As Our earthly hearts are broken and we are missing him so much already. Our Godly hearts know that he is no longer in pain.
Alvis Russell passed away on Thursday January 29, 2026, with his family by his side at Majestic Care of Connersville, at the age of 92. Alvis was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on September 27, 1933, the son of Emery and Demi Harrison Russell.
On August 20, 2017, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Lathery Browning at The Church at Connersville.
Alvis retired as a supervisor from National Metal after over 25 years. After retirement, Alvis needed to stay busy. He continued to work at several local business throughout the area, including Well’s Lumber. He was a member of the Community Gospel Church and loved spreading the word. He also loved dancing, playing corn hole, horseshoes and pool. He was known to have an immaculate yard. In his younger days, he loved to bowl in leagues. He and his teams have won many trophies.
His love and memories will be cherished by his wife, Mary; sons, Franklin (Phyllis) Russell and Alan Dale Russell; sisters, Jewell Ballard, Alene (Floyd) Faber and Lora May (Robert) Lee; grandchildren, Michael A. (Jennifer) Horning, Jared B. Russell, Jama (Danny) Siebers, Kisha (Kyle) Jackson, Katie Russell and Tylor B. Russell, as well as many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He will be thought of often by his stepsons, Terry (Lynn) Browning, Shane (Lori) Browning and Adam (Melissa) Browning and step-grandchildren, Jason G. (Lori) Moore, Heather Browning, Michael Browning, Ashley (Dakota) Ervine, Karissa (Dalton) Persinger and Alan Browning, as well as his many friends and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Jean D. Cunliffe Russell; daughter, Jane Russell Harmon; brother Achie Russell; grandson, Bradley Horning; infant great grandson and step grandchildren, Melissa Abrams and Bradley Browning.
Funeral services will be conducted at Community Gospel Church, 250 Erie Ave, Connersville, on Saturday February 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Family and friends may gather to share memories from 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Alvis will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery.
