Fayette County has a new leader for its emergency communications. Outgoing 911 Interim Director Jeff Griffin presented Samantha Caldwell as his recommended successor during Tuesday’s meeting.

“We decided that Samantha would be a good fit,” Griffin told the commissioners. “With her experience, I think she ought to work out well.”

The commissioners officially named Caldwell the 911 Director, effective following a two-week transition period. The board also approved moving Kylie Osborne to a full-time position to fill Caldwell’s previous role and hiring Lucinda Maiden as a new part-timer. Griffin noted that Maiden’s willingness to work the “late shift” was a major benefit, as the department is in “desperate need of that, always.”
