Finding the right companion can transform a house into a home, and this week, the Fayette County Animal Shelter—with the generous support of Bath State Bank—is highlighting two wonderful souls looking for their forever families.

Whether you are a devoted “cat person,” a loyal “dog person,” or someone who believes there’s always room for both, Cricket and Gemma offer two very different, but equally heartwarming, opportunities to adopt.

Meet Cricket: The Tiny Purr-Machine

If you are looking for a playful addition to your family, look no further than Cricket. This handsome ginger male is only 3–4 months old, making him the perfect age to bond with a new owner.

  • Personality: Cricket is described as “very sweet” and has a natural affinity for humans.
  • Family Fit: He loves people and is great with children, making him an ideal candidate for a lively household.
  • Health Status: He is currently looking for a home that can help him complete his journey to adulthood; he will need his vaccines and to be neutered.

Meet Gemma: The Loyal Companion

For those who prefer the steady, calm presence of a seasoned companion, Gemma is a standout choice. A 7–8 year-old female German Shepherd Dog (GSD), Gemma is the definition of a “good girl.”

  • Personality: She is well-mannered, housebroken, and crate trained, meaning she is ready to settle into your routine immediately.
  • Family Fit: Gemma is excellent with people and kids, offering the protective yet gentle nature the breed is known for.
  • Health Status: She is already spayed but will need an update on her vaccinations.
