Randy Lee Mullins Sr., age 76, of Connersville, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on November 25 ,2025. He was a devoted Husband, the most loving Daddy, such a proud Papaw, cherished brother, cousin, and loyal friend. His life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and joy.
Born on October 5, 1949 in Connersville, Indiana, to William Orville and Mary Louise Mullins. Randy grew up in Laurel, Indiana. Randy was a proud graduate of Laurel High School. Class of 1967. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 13, 1968 and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant, He was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington, New Jersey as well as Germany before being sent to combat. He was honorably discharged on April 14, 1972 demonstrating courage and dedication that remained with him for the rest of his life. Upon his return, Randy began a 40 year career as a forklift driver for the Ford plant before his retirement.
While enlisted he married his wife, Donna Matney, of 55 years, on December 30, 1970. They had 3 children. Randy Lee Mullins Jr. was their first born. Though the time they had with “Little Randy” was far too short, as he passed away at the age of 4 in 1976. There is a profound happiness and peace that they are finally reunited again, together with Jesus.
He found great joy in flying his ultralight airplane and was a longtime member of the Nulltown Wing Nuts, where he shared his love of aviation with his longtime friends. Time spent on his pontoon at the lake, especially fishing or playing at their “special beach” with his wife, kids, and grandkids brought him tremendous joy, or enjoying the quiet company of a good book. He also enjoyed taking care of his horses.
Randy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel. One of his greatest gifts from God was his beautiful voice. He used it to glorify the Lord through Gospel music, singing at church services and bringing comfort to residents in local nursing homes. His songs lifted spirits and touched countless hearts.
