$250,000 Bond Set for Connersville Man Facing Alleged Child Pornography Charges
A Connersville man faces 20 preliminary felony charges related to alleged child exploitation following a multi-agency investigation.
Mikell Jovon Shepard, 22, of Connersville, was arrested on preliminary charges including one count of alleged Child Molesting as a Level 1 felony, eight counts of alleged Producing Child Pornography as a Level 4 felony, three counts of alleged Child Exploitation, and eight counts of alleged Possession of Child Pornography.
During an initial hearing today, bond for Shepard was set at $250,000, with a 10% to clerk option.
The charges stem from an investigation detailed in a probable cause affidavit filed in Fayette Circuit Court. According to the document, the Connersville Police Department was contacted on October 23, 2025, by the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force regarding a cyber tip.
The tip, which allegedly originated from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), identified a Google Photos account allegedly belonging to Shepard. The account reportedly contained 1,750 images and videos. An initial review of the files, as stated in the affidavit, determined that 89 files allegedly “appeared to depict prepubescent minors engaged in sexual acts” and 370 allegedly “appeared to depict prepubescent minors.”
Court documents allege the files were created at a location in Connersville. One video allegedly depicts a hand, which investigators allege is Shepard’s, manipulating a prepubescent child’s underwear.
On Friday, October 24, law enforcement officers from the Connersville Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at Shepard’s residence.
Shepard was detained and transported for an interview. According to the affidavit, Shepard allegedly waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with investigators. The document alleges Shepard stated he was “sexually attracted to minor children” and admitted to using his photography business to “access children.” The affidavit further alleges that Shepard confirmed he had captured the images, identified his own hand
