The Connersville Spartan baseball team defeated the Franklin County Wildcats 13-6 in an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference matchup at Franklin County on Monday.

The Spartans jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Connersville senior Landyn Geise had a 2-run home run to score junior Zaine Bentley. Senior Landon Lykins had a 2-RBI single to score sophomore Parker Flanigan and senior Kolton DeBoard. Bentley had a RBI single to score junior Brody Shearer.
Connersville extended their lead to 8-1 by the top of the third inning with runs from senior Zander McHenry, Flanigan, and Bentley off RBI from Flanigan, senior Aaron Kidd, and Geise, respectively. Flanigan’s RBI came off a triple in the top of the second. Kidd had 1 run scored.

Franklin County 2 runs in the bottom of the third off a 2-RBI double from senior Garrett Kuntz to score sophomore Tyler Weaver and senior Braylon Kruthaupt. Kruthaupt had 3 runs scored for the Wildcats on the day and Weaver had 2 runs scored in total. Kuntz collected 3 RBI. Junior Aiden Blair had 1 run scored for Franklin County. Senior Kaden Welch and junior Gavin Trammell had 1 RBI each for the Wildcats.
Kruthaupt had 1 strikeout in 1 and 1/3 innings in the start for the Wildcats. Weaver collected 1 strikeout in 5 and 2/3 innings in relief.

Geise had 3 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Spartans with Flanigan contributing 2 RBI. Connersville junior Gavin Brannon had 9 strikeouts in 5 innings on the mound for the Spartans. Shearer 2 strikeouts in 2 innings of relief work with 1 offensive RBI.
Connersville Sophomore Brayden Keller had 2 RBI for Connersville with senior Zander McHenry scoring 1 run for the Spartans.
The Spartans will host the Centerville Bulldogs in a non-conference game at Connersville High School on Wednesday. The Wildcats are next in action in an EIAC rematch with the Spartans at CHS on Thursday.
