Progress is officially underway on a new restroom facility at Alquina Blue Arrows Park, an addition designed to enhance the experience for families and visitors during community events.
According to a press release from the park board, Phase 1 of the project wrapped up last fall. This initial stage included securing state and local approvals for architectural plans, the installation of the septic system, and preliminary site work.
Construction for Phase 2 is scheduled to begin this spring. Officials expect the facility to be fully completed and ready for use by the time the annual Fall Festival arrives later this year.
The facility will be located at the northeast corner of the basketball court. A new cement walkway will connect the restrooms to the existing driveway to ensure easy access for those using the court, the playground, and those attending park festivals. The restrooms are designed for seasonal operation, with expanded availability during peak usage periods.
Alquina Blue Arrows Park is currently seeking final donations to fund the finishing touches of the project. Community members interested in supporting the improvement can contact info@alquinabluearrowspark.org for more information.
The park, located at 4397 E. Alquina Rd. in Connersville, opened in 2016 on the site of the former Alquina High and Elementary School. It currently offers a variety of recreational programs, including disc golf and a community shelter.
